Job Description

Afaaq Support Services is looking for a Food Safety Inspector who will be responsible for ensuring that food is safe to be consumed, ensuring kitchen staff is following proper sanitary practices, and may also be tasked with investigating cases of foodborne illness to determine the source of contamination.

Key Responsibilities area

Performing inspections of Catering, grocery stores, catering companies, and other food service facilities to ensure they are following health and safety regulations.

Collecting samples for testing, using lab equipment such as microscopes and chemical analyzers.

Inspecting food processing facilities for adherence to safety regulations regarding storage, preparation, and handling procedures.

Testing foods for contamination using methods such as culturing bacterial samples in Petri dishes to identify organisms by their physical characteristics.

Inspecting kitchen and mess Hall for cleanliness and adherence to health codes.

Performing routine checks of items such as expiration dates on perishables, refrigeration temperatures, and cleanliness of floors, walls, and equipment.

Reviewing records of incoming shipments of food products to ensure they meet legal requirements.

Issuing notices of violations to facility managers or owners regarding infections of safety rules or regulations

Requirements and Skills

Bachelor’s degree in occupational health and safety or a related scientific field

Occupational health and safety education

Keen attention to detail

Food safety knowledge
